Okorocha’s efforts pay off, as Imo’s modular Refinery set to take off

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation has announced plans by the government to provide every technical support needed to ensure that a modular refinery sited in Ohaji-Egbema area of the State begins full operation before 2023.

The modular refinery which was attracted by the immediate past governor of the State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha is sited in Ibigwe, a sleepy oil producing community in Ohaji-Egbema area of the State and is being constructed by a private company, Waltersmith Petroleum Company.

On completion, the refinery which has an installed capacity to refine 17,000 barrels of petroleum products per day, shall go a long way in creating thousands of jobs opportunities for Imolites, while reducing tension in the oil producing Community.

The foundation laying ceremony for the refinery was performed by the former Minister of State, Petroleum, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu in 2018.
