“It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Hon. Zakari Abdullahi Idde on Sunday 16th December 2019. I send our deepest condolences to his family, relatives and the entire Eggon nationality on behalf of all citizens of Nasarawa State.

Nasarawa State mourns with you, even as we reflect upon the life of this remarkable politician and exceptional individual who showed the skills of community service, leadership and great determination.

Indeed politics has lost a man who was a powerful force for peace, unity and inclusion. Hon. Zakari Idde’s love for peace stands as an example to all of us, particularly, those who are politicians to be bridge builders and torch bearers of hope.

Zakari Idde contributed over many years to furthering the ideals of political accommodation in North Central Nigeria.

Idde understood the deep connection
between ethnic origin and national problems, and he helped to give Nasarawa State a respected place of identity in national politics.

There are only a few citizens of Nasarawa State who have had such a profound impact on the future direction of politics of inclusion in our dear country Nigeria than Hon. Zakari Abdullahi Idde. Which is why it is a tribute to his passionate determination to bring progress and prosperity to Nasarawa State, that so many of our people, across different political lines, religion and ethnic affiliation feel such a deep sense of loss at his passing.

As a person, I was fortunate enough to have contested with Hon. Zakari Idde when we sought for the Governorship nomination of our party, the APC and I have since discovered him to be a champion for tolerance, alleviation of poverty and peaceful resolution of all conflicts.

In politics, Hon Zakari Abdullahi Idde will always be remembered for the role he played in agitating for political reforms that paved the way for the North central region to contribute its quota to national development.

That is why despite our grief and pain, we believe that Hon Zakari Abdullahi Idde’s spirit will live and reflect in in the daily acts of youths, women and ordinary people who are now carrying forward his progressive struggle to create a fairer, just and more inclusive Nigeria.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Zakari Idde family and the entire Eggon Land as he is buried today, and we pray for the eternal repose of this respected son of Nasarawa State. May His Soul Rest In Peace!”
