The entire Christendom and Nigeria at large was driven into a state of mourning and shock over the abduction of the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria,Reverend Lawan Andimi;upon the decision of the tireless Nigerian security agencies to beam a search light for his freedom,a devastating video was released where the Christian leader was asked to renounce his faith and Jesus Christ as his master but the gallant soldier of the cross refused and decided to enlist his name as one of the Matyr of the Christian race. He was gruesomely beheaded by the Book Haram insurgent sect and a strange cold engulfed the church. The National CAN chairman Reverend Samson Ayokunle was in deep sorrow,he questioned the competence of the Buhari led administration to protect Nigerians,he frowned also at the decision to keep service chiefs who absolutely nothing but lip-service,he further accused the President for been anti-christianity and finally declared February 2nd 2020 to be a day for National fasting across the Christian churches.
In a swift reaction,Femi Adesina quickly sent his condolences to CAN unbehalf of Nigerian President but quickly debunked the accusation of Buhari’s anti Christian posture and declared the Government’s readiness to protect all religious faithfuls.The European Union also reacted to the gruesome murder and pointed some accusing fingers. Nigerians have wondered how these terrorist sect enter into the country abduct a person,keep him for days and then release a video of such person in captivity and then kill him without any intervention from the security forces. It raises questions about the claim of victory over insurgency, more traumatizing is the agony of Andimi in the helplessness of his country to rescue him.An American citizen cannot die like that,but Andimi is a hero of the faith.
