Proceedings of the Nigerian Senate of Tuesday, 11th February, 2020

Welcome to a new Legislative Day in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege led the Principal Officers into the chambers; took the official prayers; and began the day’s proceedings at 10:35am.

‪Senator‬ Sam Egwu ‪moved for the approval of votes and proceedings of Thursday, 6th February 2020. Senator ‬Uba Sani ‪seconded.‬

ANNOUNCEMENT
Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege announces that Tomorrow, 12th February, 2020 the Senate would hold a valedictory service in honour of Late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu.

POINT OF ORDER
Senate Leader cited Order 43 and officially informed the Senate on the passing away of Senator Longjan Ignatius Datong representing Plateau South who died on Monday, 10th February, 2020. Minority Leader seconded.

“This is very painful, he was a gentleman a man who rendered very patriotic service to this country and his state. We are going to miss him and his family will miss him. On behalf of the entire Senate, we extend our most sincere condolence to his family and the people of Plateau State.”- Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.

Senate resolved to:

  1. Observe a minute silence in honor of our Distinguished colleague; and
  2. Suspend plenary and other legislative activities today.

ADJOURNMENT
Senate Leader moved that plenary be adjourned to another legislative day. Minority Leader seconded.

Plenary is adjourned to Wednesday, 12th February, 2020.
