Kogi State Govt to relocate beggars from Major Street

Kogi State Government under Governor Yahaya Bello is set to keep the stake clean by relocating beggars and destitute from the major Street in State.

The government said that effort has already in place to keep the State capital and other town in the state clean, by taken beggars and destitute out of the street to another sides.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Fatima Buba Kabir, made this known to newsmen in his office in Lokja today.

She said the main area which the sanitation will begin are: Paparanda square, the post office and the NTA roundabout.

But the commissioner said the evacuation will not be immediate, stating that proper sensitisation will come first before the implementation.

In her Statement, she informed the newsmen’s that sensitisation material had already been put in place to sensitive the beggars before taken them off the street.

She didn’t said either the government is going to provide a palliative measure for them to stop begging, but she said the beggars are human being as such the government will not take it hash on them.
