We’ll announce date for council polls as soon as Covid-19 subsides – Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission

Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has assured that a tentative date for the conduct of local government elections will be announced as soon as the coronavirus pandemic subsides.

The chairman of the commission, Hon Mamman Nda Eri made this known when he visited the Department of State Service (DSS) in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Eri informed the security chief that a tentative time-table and the estimated budget of the local government election have been drawn.

He expressed hope that electoral processes will rolled out and date announced as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic that has paralysed all activities in the state subsides.

Eri stated that his visit to the DSS office was to foster strategic security relationship to guarantee hitch free election across the state.

The Director, State Security Service, in his response promised to assist the commission in terms of security for all the citizens towards a hitch free and successful elections.

He, however, advised the commission to be transparent in the discharge of its assigned responsibilities.
