The executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma has announced it plans to rename Imo State University after the late Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who died of covid-19 recently.
Uzodinma disclose his plan today Monday, 20th of April 2020 when the management staff of the university led by the Vice Chancellor, Adaobi Obasi, paid him a visit at Government House, Owerri, the State capital.
In Statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Oguwuike Nwachuku, said that late Kyari played vital role in the liberation of Imo State.
The governor said that no gesture is too big for a man like Kyari who died as a hero.
Uzodinma said that before change of Name will take place, consultations are underway with relevant stakeholders both in the education sector and in the state to critically look into the his plan to rename the university after Kyari.
Recall that Hope Uzodinma a member of APC, who come 4th in the last Imo State gubernatorial elections, was install by the supreme as the Imo State Governor earlier this year after Emeka Ihedioha of PDP was removed.
