A viral video which was taken by an onlooker on Monday evening shows a scene where a man was been pinned down on the neck by a Minneapolis police officer, who kept his knee placed tight on the man’s neck.
The man, who was later identified as George Floyd, later died, Aljazeera reports.
On Tuesday afternoon, Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo announced that four officers involved are now “former employees” of the department.
Mayor Jacob Frey tweeted,
“Four responding MPD officers involved in the death of George Floyd have been terminated. This is the right call.”
