“Now, much like I did leading up to the 2017 season, I plan to take the necessary time to be 100 percent ready to play at my highest level.

I will be missing my fans and the tour dearly but , I will look forward to seeing everyone back on tour at the start of the 2021 season.” end of quote..

The 20 time grand slam champion has not played a competitive game since his Australian open semi-final match against Novak Djokovic in January, having had his first go at surgery a month after.

He is now set to miss the US and French Open tournaments scheduled to return in August and September. With the ATP Tour still on hold, plans are underway for it to resume by the end of July. But they are doubts all around that.

World number 1,Novak Djokovic has casts his doubts of the season ever resuming sighting that it would be “impossible” to play under such “extreme” safety protocols. Djokovic who is a three time US open champion described the safety measures as not “sustainable”.

The US Tennis Association is expected to make a decision as soon as next week about whether to hold the US open or not. If ever it’s going to be held you could count on it that there would be no Roger Federer in it.
