Eket Women kick Against Rape, led Protest to the Palace of Eket Paramount ruler, HRH Obong Abia

Eket women led a protest to the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Eket, HRH Obong ECD Abia.

Leader of the protest, Mrs Bright Frank Archibong, wife of the Executive Chairman of Eket appealed to the traditional father and members of Eket Traditional Council to prevailed on the men to stop raping women in Eket and Akwa Ibom State, saying the scourge should be encouraged.

In her protest speech, Mrs Aniedi Usoro, Secretary Eket local government council solicited the royal fathers support for the exposure of all rapist of both men and women in their domain.

Former Eket transition committee, Abigail Edohoeket called for stiff punishment for all rapist and idea of bailing out rapist from the police station should be discouraged.

Responsing, the Paramount of Eket, HRH Obong ECD Abia appreciated the women of Eket for embarking on the protest, saying Eket people are respectable people and know the importance of girl children,hence the reason Eket women are seen in all sectors of the economy in the country.

He assured the protesters of the Traditional Rulers Council of severe penalties on any rapist caught in Eket as traditional means of excommunication of the culprit from Eket would be enforced, saying that any village head found in the act would be dethroned and his certificate retrieved from him.
