NNPC targets 24 months for the completion of pipeline
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) revealed that it will complete the Ajaokuta-Kano pipeline in two years.
NNPC has set a 24 months target for the completion of the $2.59bn Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project.
It stated that the construction period of the 40-inch by 614km pipeline project will help increase the use of domestic gas.
The project is set to be inaugurated virtually today by the President, Major General Muhammed Buhari (retd.).
The Group General Manager of the Corporation, Group Public Affairs Division, Kennie Obateru, said that the project was a section of the Trans-Nigeria Gas Pipeline with capacity to transport about 2.2 billion cubic feet of gas per day.
NNPC said that the AKK pipeline would have its source from Ajaokuta, in Kogi State and move through Abuja, Niger, Kaduna and end at Kano.
The aim of the pipeline at completion is the boost of the local use of natural gas for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
