Mass resignation in Nigerian Army : Reps set to investigate

Members of the House of Representatives have moved for the investigation of the mass resignation in the Nigerian Army.

The motion was moved at the plenary on Tuesday by the Chief Whip of the house, Rep. Mohammed Monguno (APC-Borno).⁣

According to Monguno, a Lance corporal in the Army identified as Mr Martin Idakpeni uploaded a video on June 22, 2020.

In the video, he condemned the attitude of the Chief of Army Staff towards the attacks and killings of innocent Nigerians and soldiers.⁣

He mentioned that the officer talked about the untold hardship faced by soldiers as they conduct combat operations.⁣

The lawmaker also said that Nigerian soldiers have on several occasions, disobeyed orders from superior officers.

This is in protest of poor welfare arrangements and alleged embezzlement of allowances due them by their superiors.⁣
