Emmanuel Egbo Becomes The first African Coach to Qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Emmanuel Egbo has broken the jinx by being the first black man, the first African to qualify for club football’s most elite competition, The UEFA Champions League.

Well, it was well overdue and about time for something of this nature to happen. Emmanuel Egbo is an Ex Nigerian Goalkeeper who has 12 caps for the Super Eagles under his belt between 1999 and 2002.

He was part of the Nigerian squad that featured in the African Nations Cup between 2000 and 2002. He moved to the Balkan region in that year after a short stint in South Africa. He played for Moroka Swallows.

The Nigerian led KF Tirana to the Albanian top-flight in his first season as Manager in charge. KF Tirana won thier 25th league title on Sunday after 2nd place Kakesi lost 1-0 on Sunday meaning Tirana on 69th points hold a seven-point advantage over domestic rivals Kategoria Superiore with two games to spare.

It’s truly a massive feat for the Nigerian who would be the first black man to achieve this and another good thing is that he’s a Nigerian.

He also has the opportunity to achieve a domestic double in the Albanian league in a Fairytale season for the the Nigerian as they face Tuela in the Albanian cup final on August 2nd.

Will he cause an upset in the Champions League next season? We’ll have to wait and see.
