EPL Final day Review: Aston Villa survives, Watford and Bournemouth relegated. Liverpool Secures club record.

 

Aston Villa’s draw with West Ham means Watford and Bournemouth joins Norwich to exit the EPL.

Villa’s opponent on the final day (West Ham) had already confirm thier safety in the league during the week so a favour foe Aston Villa was said to be on the table, but nine of such happening with the match keenly contested for by both teams.

Aston Villa needed something good to guarantee safety and were on the way to victory in the 84th minute when Manchester United linked Jack Grealish put them in front with a powerful strike past Fabianski .

However, West Ham restored parity just one minute later when Yarmolenko’s strike took a bad deflection off Grealish before dropping into the net.

It was a nervy closing stages at the London Stadium with West Ham looking like they were in a Cup final of soughts, not giving Villa any breathing space of the ball. But they managed to seal their point and was further helped by Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Watford. Though Bournemouth defeated Everton 3-1 at the Goodison park, thier 34 points tally was not enough to keep them in the Premier League finishing 18th above Watford and Norwich City.

Aston Villa finished 17th and West Ham 16th to book their place in next year’s Premier League competition.

Manchester City 5-0 Norwich City

Southampton 3-1 Sheffield United

Newcastle United 1-3 Liverpool –

Liverpool finished the season one point shy of equalling Manchester City’s club record points tally of 100 points as they finished the season on 99 points but still it was enough to give them a personal club record points tally. Liverpool came from behind to defeat Newcastle United on the final day with goals from Vigil Van dijk Divock Origi and Sadio Mane ending a great season for the Champions.
