Preparation hits full gear in various states in the Nation ahead school reopening

 

Today in various states across the country State Government and concerned personnels have all embarked on massive clean up of schools for resuming students. Various modalities have been put in place to ensure safety of lives of those students resuming.

In Lagos state they have been massive Fumigating processes taking place across various public schools in the state as ordered by the state government. Hand sanitizers have been made available to all public schools in the states to be placed inside all the classrooms and in hostels and teachers must ensure students sanitize their hands everytime.

It has been ordered that the social distancing rule must be enforced and the wearing of face mask is very compulsory.

In Ogun state, it has been made compulsory for students in SS3 Boarding schools to take Covid-19 and Malaria tests before resuming as confirmed via the twitter handle of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Basic Secondary Education, Ronke Soyombo. And only when the results come back negative will they be allowed to resume.

This directive caused an initial spark of protest from parents in the state as they were reports that they were being asked to pay the sum of N25,000 for their children to receive their tests to be able to resume.

But the state Government came out to clarify the air saying that the state government will handle every form of payments for all SS3 Students in public owned schools. Private school owners must also test their students before resumption. Amongst other such initiatives, they have been massive distribution of Face mask across the state.

In Kano state, the Commissioner of Education, Kano Sanusi Kiru has come out to say that the government hasn’t set any date for resumption and would not resume this week because they are still a lot of things to be done before students could resume. Kano has the largest number of students sitting for WAEC with over 11,354 students sitting for it across 536 centres so they have a lot to do.

In Rivers State the Ministry of Education has disinfect many secondary schools and also distributed COVID-19 Hygiene kits to all 257 accredited WAEC Centres in the state. Commissioner of Education in Rivers, Prof Kajiye Ebeku has set up a special taskforce to ensure schools comply to all guidelines listed..

In Kwara the State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi today handed over 65,000 face mask to Commissioner of Education in the state, Hanjia Fatimah Bisola Ahmed for distibution to various students across the state ahead of resumption. Kaduna state also followed suit as preparations hit peak in various across the nation ahead of tomorrow’s school resumption.
