Champions League Review: RB Leipzig reaches first UCL Semi Final with victory over Atletico Madrid.

It was a big upset for Atletico who targeting the final four but were beaten to it by a young and vibrant German side, RB Leipzig in Lisbon.

After a barren first 45 minutes the goals finally came in the, second half. Daniel Olmo put Leipzig ahead in the 50th minute with a thumping header across the goal to the amazement of the Atletico squad.

Simeone’s lead men searched for a way back into the game and finally got it when substitute, Joao Felix was fouled in the oppositions penalty area. The young Portuguese stepped up and scored the penalty in the 71st minute to bring the game back to parity.

Leipzig and Atletico searched for the killer goal as the game approached extra time. The breakthrough finally came in the 88th minute and it was Leipzig who were triumphant at the end. Adams shot was deflected off Savic and passed Oblak to send much joy to all of Leipzig.

That goal was enough to claim their first ever UCL Semi Final spot for RB Leipzig and will now lock horns with Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday for a place in the finals. Meanwhile Atletico have a month of rest till the start of the next La liga season.
