Joe Biden has stated US Donald Trump has “cloaked America in darkness for a great deal too long” as he standard the Democratic White House nomination.
The former US vice-president said his rival has unleashed “too a good deal anger, too tons fear, too tons division”.
Mr Biden’s speech is the fruits of a political profession spanning almost half of a century.
He heads into the usual election marketing campaign with a clear lead in opinion polls over Mr Trump, 74.
But with seventy five days to go till the election the Republican president has masses of time to slender the gap.
Speaking from a normally empty event centre in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, Mr Biden, 77, said: “Here and now, I provide you my word, if you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw on the exceptional of us, not the worst.
“I’ll be an ally of the light, now not the darkness.
“It’s time for us, for we the people, to come collectively and make no mistake, united we can and will overcome this season of darkness in America.
“We’ll selected hope over fear, information over fiction, equity over privilege.”
Mr Biden said “character is on the ballot” this November.
“We can pick out a course of turning into angrier, less hopeful, extra divided, a path of shadow and suspicion,” he said.
“Or, or, we can select a exceptional path and together take this risk to heal, to reform, to unite. A direction of hope and light.
“This is a life-changing election. This will decide what America going to appear like for a long, lengthy time.”
