‘Lampard Could Be First Boss Sacked’– Former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino says.

Former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino says that Frank Lampard will know that he could be the first manager sacked this season.

Lampard secured a top four finish for the Blues in his first season in charge, this despite being under a transfer ban and having lost star player, Eden Hazard, to Real Madrid.

The legendary Chelsea midfielder brought younger players through last season, and has been aggressive in the current transfer window after spending over £200 million (R4.4 billion).

Lampard broke the club’s transfer record to bring in Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, while also bringing in the like of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell.

Cascarino says that owner Roman Abramovich will not be sympathetic to his former star if they don’t improve from where they left off last season.

“Frank will be totally aware of the pressure, but that comes with every Chelsea manager,” he told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“If you become Chelsea manager you know you’re probably the first manager who is going to get sacked.

“Will he get more time because he’s a legend? No, not now the wiggle room has gone. Look at the CV of the owner and the DNA of how he’s run that football club, you’re not going to get away with it.

“Him being an ex-Chelsea player and the work he’s done in bringing the youngsters through to the first team, it’ll count for nothing.

“He will be tested and if Chelsea don’t defend better than they did last year, they are not going to challenge.”
