Governor Yahayay Bello Vow To Take Legal Against Ghosts Workers In The State

Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Kogi State governor has vow to take legal action against Ghost worker in the State.

Bello made this known in a statewide broadcast on Thursday to mark 60yrs independent of the federal republic of Nigeria.

The governor in his statements, said some persons who take wages which are not entitled to take will face legal action.

According to the governor, who speak on how he manage to clear backlogs of salaries inherited form the previous administration, say that taken legal action against the fraudulent workers, will serve as deterrent to anyone who want to indulge in such act in the feature.

The governor also commend himself over regular payment of worker salaries, he said “late payment and percentage payment of salaries are becoming a distant memory to workers” stating that regular payment of salaries is new culture of his administration.

Some of his statement read in part ”In as much as government revenues have always been tight since we took office and COVID-19 has worsened matters, even more, we will endeavour to keep meeting our wages obligations to the genuine civil servants of Kogi States.

“To give you an idea of the huge scale of this problem, let me inform you that this administration has had to clear over N50billion in salary obligations inherited from previous administrations.

“The bulk of that money was borrowed and along with our other debt obligations continues to impede our ability to free up funds for infrastructural and other development as we would like. Those whose actions hurt our state and people must face a reckoning,”.

Recall that the governor in his first term accused of nonpayment of salaries of over 30 month of the state workers.

Also in those period, the governor initiate worker screen were many of workers were strip of their works over alleged ghosts workers, documents forgery.

However many of the affected workers cried out said they are genuine workers, which the governor intentionally sacked, and have their salaries withdrew.
