The Apex body of Nigerian University, ASUU has said that they are not going to comply with the directive of the federal government of Nigeria to reopen schools acroos the country after six month of closure to curtail the spread of covid-19.
The reason that, the body say that they still on strike.
Recall that Omokoshaban reported ealier thatMinister of Education, Adamu Adamu, had on Friday, directed the reopening of Schools nationwide.
According to Adamu, schools are to resume on October 12.
He said while speaking on Friday that private and state schools will determine their own opening schedule but warned that they must ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.
But in a reaction to the directive, by Biodun Ogunyemi, the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) president, said members of the union will not resume work until its demands are met.
He said
“ASUU is not responsible for the closure of schools. So, government has done what it knows how to do best, which is to give and follow-up on directives,”.
“As for ASUU, the demands of our union have not been met.”
