Breaking: Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu Abolish Pension for Ex-Governors, and Deputies

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken a drastic action to cut the cost of governance in the State.

The governor in his first action has taken a decision to abolished pension for former governors and deputies in the state.

Sanwo-Olu made this known when presenting 2021 budget at the floor of Lagos state House of assembly on the 10th of November 2020.

He said, “Mr. Speaker and Honourable Members of the House, in light of keeping the costs of governance low and to signal selflessness in public service, we will be sending a draft executive bill to the House imminently for the repeal of the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007), which provides for payment of pension and other entitlements to former Governors and their Deputies.”
