Law Reform Commission Gets New Executive Secretary

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Mrs. Umul-Kulthum Ninilomo Bashar as the New Executive Secretary, Law Reform Commission.

A letter signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, stated that in approving the appointment, due cognisance was taken of the appointee’s integrity, selfless service and track record as a knowledgeable and committed legal practitioner.

Bashar joined the Lagos State Civil Service in 2009 as a Chief State Counsel and was later deployed to the Directorate of Commercial Law where she rose to become the Head of Department, with the responsibility of drafting commercial agreements for high-profile projects for the State.

In November 2012, she was appointed the Registrar, Bill of Sales and subsequently, Legal Researcher (Business Matters) for the Lagos State Government/Institute for Liberty and Democracy Informal Sector Reform Programme.

She was deployed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in June 2019 as the Head of the Legal Unit

An indigene of Lagos, Mrs. Bashar obtained her LL.B from University of Lagos, Yaba in 1986, called to the Nigerian Bar on the 22nd of October 1987 and also holds a Masters Degree from the same University.
