Igbo Leaders Disown IPOB, Assured Non-Igbos of their safety

At a well attended meeting of critical stakeholders of the Southeast leaders which held in Enugu, the Igbo reaffirmed their commitment to a one united Nigeria based on equal rights, justice and political fairness.

The meeting also assured non-Igbos residing or doing business in any part of Igbo land of their safety, while decrying threats by some groups against Igbos residing in other parts of the country. The Igbo leaders encouraged the leadership of other regions to take steps to ensure that no harm is visited on any Igbo man or woman in their various zones.

The meeting which held in the Enugu State Government House had in attendance; past and serving governors, traditional rulers, leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo led by Professor Ambassador George Obiozor, religious leaders and legislators.

While this meeting is coming a little late, it is commendable that these individuals who represent the real leadership structure in Igbo land have hearkened to my earlier recommendation for this kind of gathering to disown the activities of some charlatans and hooligans purporting to represent Ala Igbo. The position arrived at in this meeting is the valid position of Ndigbo and any other person or group saying otherwise, while entitled to such opinions, is speaking for him or herself and not for Ndi Igbo.

The Igbo leadership class couldn’t have continued to watch while some scammers incite the destruction of our cherished land.
