My name is Dr Henry Okey Obi. A business entrepreneur who deals in marine services, downstream oil and gas trading and real estate developments. Our company name is Florence Petroleum ltd. We are registered in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
The name of our vessel is Mt Okiki. It was formally known as Mt Rex Condor until 2008 when we bought her and rebranded her as Mt Okiki. The vessel is a bunkering fuel tanker with Nigerian flag. It has been doing offshore bunkering services to offshore platforms like Nigerian Agip oil company in Brass, SPDC and Chevron.
It was involved in a fire incident on the 7th of May 2013 enroute to supply Marine gasoil to Agip Brass. We later salvaged her and anchor her in a jetty at Okirika River state where we pay jetty fees to the community that owns the jetty.
Ever since then, we have being mobilising funds to fix, repair and rebrand the vessel. We have already finished the electrical installations on the vessel after purchasing marine and armored cables worth over of seventy thousand pounds from England. We have also done anti-rust priming and painting with zine oxides. We have equally purchased a new brand engine from the Netherlands which is already delivered to a warehouse in Lagos waiting to be moved to the vessel in pH for installation. All this efforts has cost our company over five hundred thousand dollars.
On the 23rd of March 2021, I was alerted that some armed men lead by one Mr Igbiks Tamuno, a formal commissioner of environment in River state (09079238184), Solomon Chukwu (08037085969), Capt Friday Owoyemi (08033614965), Mr Vincent Bamson (08037268482), Mr Nemi Mangibo(08035449792), Mr Kenneth Kalio (08036046219) came and stole my vessel and sold her to one Alhaji Usman Ilyasa (08039616271) for 50M naira. Meanwhile, the open market value of the vessel is in excess of 600M naira.
I was in the UK at the time, I informed my operations manager who wrote a petition on the 25th of March 2021 on my behalf to the IGP who approved the investigation of the matter.
It will interest you to know that immediately police invited this people, they procured forged documents including abuse of court processes which aided their illegal act.
Justice O Amadi, a senior magistrate grade level one court judge, awarded the court order that the conspirators relied upon to persuade the River state police command to discontinue investigation of their evil act.
It will also interest you to know that magistrate courts in Nigeria do not have jurisdictions over vessel and admiralty matters..!, still a court order was procured from this magistrate court…!
In addition to this, the office of the attorney General of Rivers state government was equally abused following a letter from the attorney General of the state signed by his special Adviser, Mr Chukwuma Eke directing the deputy commissioner of police, State CID to discontinue investigation of the matter as his letter exonerated all the police invitees involved in stealing my vessel.
The letter declared that all the conspirators acted lawfully….!.
To this effect, it is imperative to ascertain the involvement of the attorney General and commissioner of justice of River state in this matter.
In order for Alhaji Usman Ilyasa to go ahead and carcase my vessel uninterrupted, he secured the services of DSS men lead by one Bashiru (08036188668) who sent heavily armed DSS personnel that came threatening to kill anyone that comes close to the vessel. With the aid of the DSS men, they move the vessel to a jetty owned by one Mr Abrakassa (08035508750) who provided materials and wieders that carcased my vessel beyond repair under the protection of this DSS personnel.
It important for you to know that the same Mr Abrakassa used his white hilux truck in bringing the DSS people to the site where they scrap my vessel on a daily bases.
I instructed my lawyer to write a petition to the DSS headquarter in pH, they acknowledged the petition (copy attached here) claiming it was a presidential tax force that carry out the operation.
I had to cry to the force headquarters in Abuja, who then sent their men to stop this heinous act but by then, they have carcased the vessel beyond repair…!
When the officers from Abuja got to pH, they took over the case from the state command to continue the investigation at the federal level. Alhaji Usman Ilyasa and his Co conspirators were order to stop scrapping my vessel pending the completion of investigation.
Alhaji Usman Ilyasa claims that he is highly connected to the powers that be, and boost about this openly, that he can get away with any crime and impunity he commits. He rediculous told one of my staff that he will give me 10M naria to forget about my vessel worth over 600M naria….! this is actually madness because I can’t take anything less than my vessel. I want my vessel back and nothing more.
It is sad to note that Alhaji Usman Ilyasa who was invited by the detectives from force headquarters Abuja , has arrogantly refused to honor police invitation.
Attached therein is a picture of my vessel before the fire incident , the picture of the vessel where we anchored her in Okirika jetty at the middle of other vessels, the other vessels are still there till date, nobody has touched those ones, and the pictures of the sorry sight of my vessel as they have carcased her.
