Insecurity: Katsina State Govt Shuts Roads, Bans Sale Of Animals, Inter-State Cattle Movement

Katsina state government has officially announced ban of inter-State cattle movement.

The State Government also shut some roads in the state.

The development is come in order to curtail insecurities in the state.

Naijablog gathered that the ban of inter-State cattle movement and shutting down of roads take effect Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

One of the affected toads is Jibia-Gurbin-Baure, the road will not not be accessible to all motorists, till further notice.

Also Kankara-Sheme road has been closed to business vehicles.

Motorists are urged to take Funtua Road as an alternative route.

On Monday, Governor Aminu Masari personally signed a notification titled “Katsina State Government, Nigeria, security challenges (Containment order)” that contained the directive.

Other actions announced by the administration included the suspension of animal sales at markets in fourteen of the state’s Local Government Areas.

Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Malumfashi, Charanchi, Mai’adua, Kafur, Faskari, Sabuwa, Baure, Dutsin-ma, and Kaita are among the councils impacted.

The government also announced that only two designated fuel stations in each of the fourteen councils – Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Faskari, Sabuwa, Dandume, Musawa, Matazu, Dutsin-ma, Kurfi, Danja, and Kafur – will be allowed to sell fuel to motorists for less than N5,000, and that the sale of fuel in Jerry cans will be prohibited throughout the state.

Commercial motorcycles and tricycles are also prohibited from operating from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. in Katsina, the state capital, and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in all Frontline Local Government Areas.

Workers who provide critical services, such as journalists and health care providers, are allowed to ride their motorcycles or tricycles at any time.

Commercial motorcycles should not carry more than one passenger at a time, while tricycles should not transport more than three people, according to the government.

It also stated that the sale of used motorcycles at Charanchi market will be prohibited.

A “ban on the transit of livestock trucks from Katsina state to any state in Nigeria” was also issued by the government.

It has also prohibited the transport of firewood from the wilderness by lorries and trucks.
