Chinua Achebe wrote this in his book, about 41 years ago. From the Nigerian situation today, he can be described aptly as the man that saw everything Nigeria.
Read:
Chinua Achebe in his 1983 book “The Trouble with Nigeria” argues:
“Nigeria is not a great country. It is one of the mostly disorderly nations in the world. It is one of the most corrupt, insensitive, inefficient places under the sun. It is one of the most expensive countries and one of those that give least value for money. It is dirty, callous, noisy, ostentatious, dishonest and vulgar. In short, it is among the most unpleasant places on earth.”
Was Achebe that angry that he called Nigeria Miserable?
What if his definition is extreme or even wrong?
Was he in a hurry to define Nigeria?
What will be his 2021 definition?
Is Nigeria that bad?
Note:
Achebe was born on 16 November 1930, he died on 21 March 2013. He was a world class novelist, poet, and critic. He wrote the book Things Fall Apart – the most widely studied African novel.
