He said
Pleased to announce that on Thursday December 2, 2021, on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I assumed the Presidency of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Wall (PAGGW), for the next two years.
We are grateful to the Conference for the confidence reposed in Nigeria to preside over the affairs of the Agency, for the next two years.
I also sincerely appreciate the uncommon commitment of His Excellency Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, who has steered of the affairs of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of PAGGW since its inception.
Among other things Nigeria’s Presidency of the Pan African Agency of the Great Green Wall (PAGGW) shall seek to strengthen efforts in the mobilization of resources to accomplish the goals in the PAGGW’s Priority Investment Plan.
We are equally committed to implementing the Nigerian Great Green Wall Programme, which is a far-reaching intervention that will restore and rehabilitate lands, sustain rural economies and the livelihoods of our citizens, promote food security and generate employment.
I assure that, working together, we shall restore our degraded ecosystems and endeavour to ensure that the resilience of our people is strengthened against the effects of climate change.
