Fuel Scarcity: Ministerial Nominee Proposes Modular Refineries

A ministerial nominee, Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh from Abia State, has advised the Federal Government to set up modular refineries in oil-producing communities in a bid to combat fuel scarcity and reduce unemployment.

Ikoh said this on Wednesday, while being screened for a ministerial appointment.

Asked by Senator Ibrahim Danbaba for advice on how FG can handle the issue of fuel scarcity, he said, “I will advise the Federal Government to ensure that it establishes refinery in the local community where they exploit crude oil. If they do that and begin to introduce Modular Refinery in those communities, the issue of employment will be checked, the issue of importing fuel and gas will be a thing of the past and I know that this country can build modular refinery in most of the Niger Delta states.”
