Ebonyi state university names institute after Buratai

Newly established Ebonyi State University, of institute for peace and strategic studies (EBSU) has being named after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai.

On a courtesy visit by a team from the institution to the COAS at the Army Headquarters, Abuja today Friday 19 April 2019 led by the Vice Chancellor of the institution and former Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Professor Chigozie Egbu, reveal the development.

He applauded the COAS and the entire Nigerian Army (NA) on the success NA recorded under his leadership, especially on the areas of promotion and maintenance of peace in Nigeria, and the way NA handle 2019 general elections.

Centre berates Atiku over attempt to taint COAS, Buratai’s integrity According to him “Ebonyi State university is ready to collaborate with the Army on the trust that a well-educated Army is essential for effective military duties in the 21st Century.

We are also delighted that you are interested in the establishment of an Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies at EBSU to offer members of the Armed Forces, Police and paramilitary agencies the opportunity to get higher and relevant education”.

He also revealed that Ebonyi State governor, Engineer David Eweze Umahi, and the State Executive Council have giving them go ahead that the Institute be named “LT Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies.

Responding to the gesture, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, thanked the leadership of the university, Government and people of Ebonyi State for the honour.

Brutai then dedicated the honour to officers and soldiers of the NA for their selfless service, and sacrifices to bring an end to the security challenges faces by Nigeria.

He also said that NA will support the university/Institute to give quality education and to serve as a centre for academic research on contemporary security challenges, reveal that the NA will sponsor qualified officers and soldiers who are ready to enroll in its programmes.

Further more, he request for the collaboration between the university and the NA Resource Centre which is equally an emerging research centre of repute.

In the same vain, It could be noted that on the 15th of April 2019, the Igbinedion University Okada had honored the Nigerian Army by naming its Centre for Contemporary Security Affairs after Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai. Some Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters graced the ceremony.
