The acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has debunked the claimed that the federal government of Nigeria offered to pay Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) N100 billion to stop them from kidnapping in Nigeria.
Mr Adamu was said to have denied the allegation on Tuesday in Abuja while speaking with journalists shortly after a closed-door meeting at the Senate that lasted more than 2 hours.
A report trending on the social media, by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) had disclosed an alleged plan by the federal government to settled MACBAN with N100 billion to set up cattle ranches for their livestock, describing the action as a constitutional crime.
The IGP said their are no point of such agreement between the federal government and MACBAN, if kidnapping in the country was to be handle properly.
He said the social media report was the handy work of somebody’s that framed up the claimed to distract attention.
He said “There was nothing like that. That information you got was social media information.
“It has nothing to do… there was no any discussion to that effect.
“The source of the information, nobody knows; and certainly it is not from government.
“It is somebody’s imagination that just came up to distract attention,’’.
On the case of Nigeria police officers rapping some arrested prostitutes in Abuja, the IGP said that a panel of investigation has already been set up to look into the case.
He assure Nigerian that any of his officers found guilty of the offence would not be punish according to the law.
He said “A panel has been set up to investigate this and any officer caught and proven to have done that will face the law,’’.
