As minister described Governor Elect , Abdulrahaman as an ingrate
There was serous surprise and suspicions at the annual Ramadan Lecture organized by Nigerian Minister of Information and Cultures, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in Oro as all kwara APC top chieftains across the state refused to make appearance at the program. Being the very first public program organised by Lai after the elections victory, the minister was visibly angry at the level of embarrassment.
From all indications , it seems the centre is not more holding for Lai Mohammed who is supposedly leader of kwara state all progressive congress as yesterday program practically suggests a grand rebellions secretly cooking against the controversial minister by his political Kinsmen after electoral victory
Our correspondent who was in Oro for the program yesterday reported that even the state party chairman, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa and his wife, including Honorable Olawuyi Ajuloopin who shared Tinubu political rooms with the ministeralthough managed to come but came very late toward the end the occasion. Newsmen also confirmed that letter carrying the ministers emblems was officially dispatched to all APC stalwarts whom the minister regarded as his political families one month to the occasion and reminders were sent last week accordingly.
Sources at Lai Mohammed house in Oro informed this medium that although there is cold war brewing in APC kwara but the minister made frantic efforts towards ensuring it became an in-house affairs but his efforts were not appreciated. He said the minister called Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq a day before the program and the governor elects assured him he will be in Oro for the program but refused to pick the ministers calls on the day of the program .
The source said:
“Alhaji(Referring to lai Mohammed) really tried but its as if they are not ready for peace , they just hate his face for no course , i was with him when he called Abdulrahaman yesterday and he did not tell him he won’t come , today when Alhaji called to tell him he’s getting late , he refused to pick the three calls and did not return till now . Alhaji was disappointed that he told us that Ramoni is an ingrate ”
Other prominent APC stalwarts who shunned Lai Mohammed program include , Arch Lola Ashiru, Senator Ajadi, Ajibola ,Yahaya Oloriegbe, Msohood Mustapha, Cook Gani Olododo, Yinka Aluko and others .
Our correspondents reports that Governor of Kebbi state Abubakar Bagudu and the minister of communication, Adebayo Shittu were the only notable faces present at the annual occasion because they are special guests to the program . The Ogbomoso PA to Lai Mohammed, Williams Adeleye was said to have rushed to Ibadan to beg Governor Abiola Ajimobi to make himself available at the occasion to save his principal from undeserved disgrace but Ajimobi said he could not sit in same Hall with Shittu
Governor Bagudu and Shittu who were asking where all the followers of Lai Mohammed in the state are were also shocked by the level of rejections Lai suffered . the duo however did not use up to one hour at the occasion before they left while the chief imam of Olorunsogo was delivering his Islamic sermon
Its not however clear why Lai Mohammed was treated with such disdain by his own people but it may not be unconnected with allegations of selfishness and dictatorial tendencies being pressed against Lai Mohammed by most APC members in the state in recent times.
Lai had come into grief after report leaked that President Muhammadu Buhari may return him as the only minister from Kwara last week , a development that is not welcome by APC topnotchs in the state who see Lai Mohammed as mere opportunist in the affairs of kwara state. Yesterday , a group from Kwara south, Kwara South Elders Forum petitioned presidency to reconsider the plans to impose Lai Mohammed on them as minister citing lack of value of lai Mohammed first ministerial appointment in the region .
Also few weeks ago, Honorable Gani Cook Olododo and Moshood Mustapha had openly called bluff of Lai Mohammed when he invited them to Oro for APC stakeholders meetings, according to insider , Moshood Mustapha and Cook Olododo had told Lai Mohammed that they will never allow him to relocate the state capital to Oro from Ilorin . There is also allegation that the minister collected over one Billion Naira from aspirants who jostled for gubernatorial tickets in the last APC primary elections.
