Oredo Chairman, Evbareke Osunde Jenkins shutdown Masses’ Bus Transport scheme

The Chairman of Oredo local Government area of Edo state Evbareke Osunde Jenkins, yesterday shutdown, Masses’ Bus Transport scheme owned and managed by Edo Civil Society Organisations.

The information was made known to the public by the Public Relations Officer Of the organization Mr. Leftist Osazee Edigin.

Edigin is his statement said that, the reason behind shutdown the company is not known, because all the due process which the local government required from them were meant.

He said, “This project was conceived to ameliorate the sufferings of our people. Now the people will suffer by reason of this action. The welfare of the people should be the responsibility of government.”

He said the Edo Civil Society Organisations, Masses transport bus “was not shut down because:

We refused to pay tax
We constituted nuisance
We refused to apply for permit
We opened it for profit making
We prevented others from working”.

He further said, the bus offer the cheapest service in Benin city.

He said, “Our fare is the cheapest irrespective of distance, weather or time of the day. We give FREE rides to those that are stranded.”

He question the Chairman, of what is their offence.

He said “what have we done wrong jenkins osunde?

Should civil society always castigate government and not provide societal solutions?”

He said that Edo people will shock if they finally disclosed the reason behind the shutdown of the company by the Chairman.

He said, “The reasons for shut down will shock Edo people when we finally speak out. We will not give up, our people will not be allowed to suffer.This project must succeed. How can a cabal in the transportation industry be glad to see people suffer?”
