Invent Engineering Equipment, Governor Sule Charges Nasarawa State University Students

Nasarawa State University, Keffi has taken delivery of engineering equipment donated by an Italian firm, De Lorenzo Engineering & Training Solutions.

Appreciating the donation of the technical equipment which is coming prior to the take off of Faculty of Engineering in the state university, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule maintained his commitment towards enhancing technological advancement of Nasarawa state, as efforts are not being spared by government to ensure the timely completion of the Lafia Institute of Technical Education.

The Governor also assured of the resolve of his administration towards upgrade of all skills acquisittion centres in Nasarawa State.

Governor Sule noted his administration’s readiness to continue to partner with NASENI among other worthwhile collaborators towards the development of technical manpower within the academia and among technologically minded people of the state.
Engineer Sule urged the state university to fully utilise the equipment so as derive the benefit it offers.

Speaking directly to the students, the Governor admonished them to understand the importance of the integrated circuits provided and also explore the opportunities it provide to learn and provide capacity, skills and manpower to the upsurge of industries which will soon be established in Nasarawa state.

He challenged the students in the inventive saying “You this will not only learn how to operate the integrated circuits, but you will also learn how to build your own integrated circuits and that is my dream”. Gov. Sule stressed

Presenting the engineering equipments, Chief Executive Officer of De Lorenzo SPA, Doctor Matteo Prosperi said the company produces engineering training equipment and has so far been able to train engineers and technicians in over 160 countries.

Mr Prosperi stated that the time has come for Nasarawa state to benefit from its more than 68 years existence and experience in high level Italian engineering quality and expertise.

“I strongly believe that our world class engineering training equipment and services will greatly contribute to the university’s vision to be a world class Centre of Excellence”. Matteo.

Prosperi expresses optimism of the state achieving its vision of being among the three most competitive states in Nigeria by 2023 considering the Governor’s investment in human capital development.

On his part, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, Engineer Professor Muhammed Sani Haruna appreciated the support of De Lorenzo to the overall growth and development of engineering in Nigeria.

Professor Sani Haruna stated that NASENI will continue to partner the government of Engineer Abdullahi Sule as it seeks to ensure capacity building and provide employment through technical and vocational education, adding that collaboration between De Lorenzo and the State University will speed the growth of the newly established Engineering Faculty.

“NASENI is also emulating De Lorenzo and will donate its own equipment to the Faculty of Engineering in Nasarawa State University upon completion of manufacturing of its local components at NASENI institutes”. Prof Sani stated

Aside linking the Stare university with Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada, Prof Sani maintained that Professors and experts from NASENI are available on visiting terms to meet manpower requirements of engineering courses to ensure proper takeoff of engineering programmed.

The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keff, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for facilitating the take off of the faculty of engineering among other support to the university, just as he explained that the donation of the laboratory equipment was not without the input of the Director General of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, Professor, Mohammed Sanni Haruna also recounting the benefits that could be derived for De Lorenzo owing to its vasitilty in engineering training.
