Buhari Daughter Hanan begged not to be served personally with court processes over SIM card case

President Muhammad Buhari daughter Hanan is doing everything possible to avert been service with court process over sim card case.

Hanan the defendant in suit number FHC/ASB/CS/3/2020 at the Federal High Court, Asaba in Delta State, in which the Department of State Services and mobile telecommunication company MTN are co-defendants. The defendants were sued by Anthony Okolie, a businessman who was illegally arrested and detained for 10 weeks by DSS over MTN sim card he purchased lawfully that was recycled and sold out after Hanan has abandoned it for two years.

The report has generated public concern, the recent story on the matter is that Aso Villa officials are trying to prevent court from serving Hanan court processes directly.

Buhari, Garba Shehu, spokesperson to President Muhammad Buhari allegedly contacted Okolie’s lawyer, Mr Tope Akinyode, on January 31st 2020 concerning the issue, the report has it that Shehu told Okolie that Hanan’s lawyer contact him directly.

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), also put a call through to Akinyode over the matter, making a case for service of court processes on Hanan through her lawyer, Mr. M.E Sheriff.

Since then, Sheriff had made frequent plea with Akinyode for him to receive the originating processes on behalf of the President’s daughter.

Speaking on the issue on Monday, Akinyode said, “We have rejected the arrangement and insisted on personal service because the law is that service of originating processes must be personal.

“It is an essential procedure of law and deviating from such is fatal to any case. Our Client has a good case and we can’t afford to lose out on grounds of technicality.”
