Social Distance: Religious House empty, but crowd at Abba Kyari Burial, and Covid-19 Palliative

Since the outbreak of covid-19 in Nigeria Federal government has putting different effort to curb the spread of the various.

Some of the major rule given by the health personal, is social distance, according to the health personal, distance from reach other will go along way to stop the spread of covid-19 that have killed over 150,000 people across the globe.

Because of social distance, social gathering, including religious gathering has been suspended.

But in Nigeria, different rule has continued to play when it come social distance order.

Many videos and picture trending online caption how Nigerians struggling to collect a palliative relief which violate the covid-19 social distance order.

The recent event is the death of Abba Kyari, chief of staff to president Muhammad burial which took place yesterdays, on the burial people were seen crowded without observing social distance order.

But, religious House, Church and mosque has been empty since the issuance of social distance order.

This sad reality lead Eno Iyangetuk, former Use of English lecturer in Heritage polytechnic to react.

According to the lecturer “What a paradox! Because of social distancing, they disallow the church to gather as evident in the empty pews seen in this church auditorium, but they have no qualms allowing a sea of heads to gather for A K’s burial and long queues filing out for COVID-19 palliatives. What a shame to relegate the church to the background!”
