The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has affirmed to the gradual ease of lockdown imposed by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
While certain categories of businesses have been allowed to resume with strict measures regulating their operations, other social gatherings such as schools, clubs, and cinemas remain closed.
The PTF says that it does not support the resumption of places of worship, however, it insists that if they have to, worshippers must adhere strictly to the guidelines of the mandatory use of facemasks and provision of hand washing facilities at the entrances.
The use of hand sanitizers and mandatory temperature checks was advised.
The PTF also noted that hugging, shaking and kissing among the congregants must be avoided and a good physical distancing measure taken.
It was reported that President Buhari and the EFCC acting chairman, Ibrahin Magu, as well as other government officials, attended the Juma’at prayers on Friday, their first, since the lockdown was imposed.
Although, there is a gradual ease of the lockdown, schools emphatically remain closed, as Emeka Nwajiuba, the Minister of State for Education, refuted the reports that schools will open on June 8.
