Ebonyi state Governor and some of his aides test positive to COVID-19

In Ebonyi State, Governor Dave Umahi and some of his aides have tested positive to COVID-19. This was made known in a statement that was signed personally by the state governor on Saturday, July 4.

Umahi said that the COVID-19 test was carried out on himself and some of his aides, and that the results came back positive.

He revealed that although all of them are currently asymptomatic, they have since gone into isolation in line with protocols laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He further asked the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, to take over from him at the frontline in the coordination of the state’s fight against the pandemic to protect Ebonyi people.

Umahi also urged the state residents to heed painstakingly to the NCDC protocols more seriously. He said that he will be working from home and will conduct virtual meetings henceforth.
