The Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Yusuf Tukur Buratai was conferred with the traditional tittle of Kauran Gusau, by the Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello.

The tittle according to the emir was born out of the COAS efforts in stemming banditry; coupled with his zeal to quell insurgency in the northern part of the country.

The Emir of Gusau during the closing ceremony of activities of the Nigerian Army Day celebration 2020 which started on the 4th of July this year said that the Nigerian army had made it possible for people to sleep with their two eyes closed in various communities across the North Western part of the country.

Before now, according to him, the people of that part of the country had to keep vigil because of the criminal activities of the bandits.

“I’m particularly motivated, highly delighted and very impress with arrangements and what I’ve seen on ground,” he said.

The emir recalled that there were instances when people neither sleep nor cultivate the farmlands but now does so because of the presence of the army and the formation of Exercise Sahel Sanity in the North West.

“Only God will guide and protect the military to protect our people in various communities, only He can determine their successes considering the expertise they are exhibiting.”

The emir expressed optimism that the army would surely suppress banditry in the north west with the ongoing onslaught by the army.

The occasion was marked with presentation of souvenirs and gift to different dignitaries and organisations that include the Nigerian Intelligence Agency.
