EndSars Protests: Nobody Was Shot By Correctional Officers at Ibom Plaza — Ogbajie

Their are no body shot by correctional officers at Ibom Plaza, Akwa Ibom State prisons services denied alleged killing of hoodlum trying to break correctional center in Uyo Akwa Ibom state capital.

The deny was contain in a statement signed by

ASC O.J Ogbajie the Command Public Relations Officer, For Controller of Corrections on 22nd of October 2020.

The statement read

“It has come to the notice of the Controller of Corrections, Nigerian Correctional Service, Akwa Ibom State Command, Akinlola Orisabinone that Armed Correctional officers killed a protester at Ibom Plaza today.

The Command wish to state the following:

  1. Correctional officers at Uyo Custodial Center were transferring inmates on adimisson to the covid-19 isolation center at Ikot Ekpene Custodial Center today 22nd October, 2020 by 1520hrs.
  2. On their way to Ikot Ekpene Custodial Center, they were accosted by an angry mob at Akpakpa Street off Barracks road Uyo.
  3. The officers on sighting the angry mob, quickly reverse in order not to allow the mob release the inmates and went back to Uyo Custodial Center.
  4. The Controller of Corrections, want to inform the general public that, after a thorough investigation by the officer in-charge of Uyo Custodial Center this evening, that no protester was shot or killed by men of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Akwa Ibom State Command.
  5. The general public should disregard this fake news as this is the handiwork of mischief makers who want to take advantage of the #EndSars protest to cause mayhem in the peaceful city of Uyo.
  6. All Custodial Centers in Akwa Ibom State Command are safe and secured by Armed Correctional officers with support from the Military and other sister security agencies.”
