Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahaman has assured Fulani community in the state of treatments.
Governor Abdulrahaman said:
“With a view to sustain peace in Kwara, I met with the Fulani community today, reassuring them of fair treatment as I urge them to work with the government and other stakeholders to prevent crimes and guarantee peace and security for all.
We are trying to forge a consensus on how to manage herders-farmers’ relationship amid mass movement of herders to the north, especially Kwara. There is a security implication from such, and what the government is doing, including the National Livestock Transformation Programme and the special agriculture processing zone, is basically to engage the Fulani community for better understanding on programmes like nomadic education, healthcare delivery, water projects and empowerment that are lined up for them.
On the sideline, our engagement with Oyo State Government on security has also been yielding positive results. We are looking to do same with other boundary states like Ekiti state.
We are committed to maintaining peaceful coexistence in this state. As we work round the clock with security agencies to secure Kwara, I urge the citizens to be supportive of our administration. We won’t let you down.
