GIARDIASIS

DESCRIPTION

Infection with the protozoan parasite, G. lamblia which colonises the

proximal small intestine.

GENERAL MEASURES

Fluid and electrolyte replacement in severe diarrhoea.

MEDICINE TREATMENT

• Metronidazole, oral, 400 mg 8 hourly for 5 days.
