Electric charge source of Lightening

Some of the common major situations that happen in the hot atmospheric weather conditions of Nigeria is lightning and thunder. However, have you ever ask yourself question, what is responsible for thunder and lightening in our atmosphere?

In other to fine answer to these question, we have to trace the history of electricity back to year 1752, which was explain by great physicist, Benjamin Franklin. He explained that thunder cloud are charged with electricity. On his explanation, he said these charged cloud when release into the atmosphere, produce a maximum numbers of spark called lightening. After then it were discovered that the number of electric current discharge during lightening is about 20KA.

During discharge of electric charge that produce lightening, it produce maximum amount of heat. the heat produce raise the temperature of the atmosphere to about 15000°C. Lightening is generated from a small area that is about 20cm in width.

However, as a result of these heat produces in these small area where lightening is produce, cause rapid movement of air molecules that produce such magnitude of sound called thunder. Roaring come as a result of these sound produced by the cloud is been reflected by any obstacles, such hill etc.

One of the significant thing to understand about electric charged is that the force between them is very large, and the force is called electrostatic force, or electric force. The electric force is responsible for holding electrons to nuclei to form atoms and for holding the groups of the atoms together to produce molecules, which are either solids and liquid.

Electrostatic is the first field of electricity to be study, it get to some point that electrostatic was regards as area of study that dose not any practical significant. As the sciences advanced, it now discovered that it has practical application in the industry.
