5 Millions Test Tube Babies Born Worldwide

As the international committee for monitoring assisted reproductive technologies presented in latest data on children born to infertile parent at the European society of human reproduction and embryology conference of fertility expert has recently in talking has revealed that about 5 millios test tube babies have now been born around the world. This according to research delegates was a remarkable ministry for fertility treatments. The first test tube baby, Louise Brown was born in the UK 1978. It said official figure up to 2008 plus three years of estimate the total number of test tube babies born at 5 million. The chairman of international committee for monitoring assisted reproductive technology (icmart) Dr. David Anderson said: this technology has been extremely fruitful in treating infertile patient. Millions of families with children have been formed thus reducing the load of infertility. The technology has enhanced significantly over the years to escalating pregnancy rate. Around 1.5 million cycles of in vitro fertilization (IVF), and similar techniques are performed every year resulting in 350 babies the chairman said. Stuart lavery, a consultant gynecologist and director of IVF at Hammershmith Hospital, said: IVF is now part of the system, it is no longer somethings couple should be ashamed off.

However, he advice that the great success of assisted reproduction techniques should not lull people into thinking they could wait to have children. The subtext is that if people delay childbirth they may view IVF as an insurance policy that can access at any times.

Unfortunately the facts still suggest that IVF success rates in woman as they get older are not good. According to doctor Dr Allan Pacey, senior lecturer in Andrology at the university of shielded, said: I think it is important that we have got to five millions. It’s far more socially acceptable than it has been over the last 10 to 20 years. One word of warning , we should make sure that couples understand that IVF is not a guaranteed solution and if they are in a position to have their children earlier in life then they should try and do that. IVF really is something that should be preserved for those people who really need it.
