For the mandatory one-year National Youth Service, Hon.Saidu Akawu Salihu was posted to Oyo State. He served diligently at the polytechnic, Ibadan (1987 – 1988).

Hon.Saidu Akawu Salihu, started his working career with Kwara State Civil Service as
Education Officer II between 1989- 1990.

In a quest to offer his services for the greater benefit of the Nigerian people, Hon.Akawu left the Kwara State Civil Service to join the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund.
