Akwa Ibom state government decontaminates DSS headquarters, doctor’s mess in Uyo

In her avowed commitment and determination to disinfect all public places against the prevailing COVID-19 Pandemic, the Akwa Ibom State Government, through her Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency(AKSEPWMA), today, commenced the second phase of the decontamination of public places.

Speaking during the exercise at Doctor’s mess, the AKSEPWMA Chairman, Obong Prince Ikim, stated that the commencement of the second phase of the exercise was in fulfillment of the State Government’s promise.

“Governor Udom Emmanuel is a man who keeps to his words, to God be the glory we have commenced the Second phase as promised. Earlier today, we were at my former office- the DSS Headquarters and now we are here in the Doctor’s Mess. Everyone knows that Doctors are in the frontline of the COVID-19 fight. Given that this is where they wine and dine, we decided to decontaminate this place, as time goes on, we will release a run down of subsequent places to visit” Ikim added.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Nyoyoko who was on ground to also witness the exercise, commended the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration in Akwa Ibom State for her effort in containing the dreaded COVID-19 Pandemic.

The leader of the Doctor’s Association who seized the opportunity to extol the Prince Ikim led Agency for extending the decontamination exercise to Doctor’s mess, disclosed that his association has enjoyed her partnership with the Environmental Protection agency, even before the outbreak of the deadly virus.

Nyoyoko while charging the AKSEPWMA Boss not to relent in his effort in managing waste and protecting the Environment in Akwa Ibom State, called on all citizens and residents of the oil rich state to strictly obey the Government restriction order as well maintain a respiratory hygiene at all times.

Recall that the State Government during the first phase of the exercise had visited hospitals, Churches, hotels, markets and many other places across Uyo, Eket, Oron, Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim, Ikot Abasi, Itu, Oruk Anam, amongst other LGAs.
