Match Report: Manchester United 2-2 Southampton- Obafemi’s leveller dents United’s hopes of moving into top four.

Manchester United missed the opportunity of moving into third place after a disappointing draw against Southampton at Old Trafford.

Micheal Obafemi scored a 96 minute goal to ensure that Man United won’t move into the top four on Monday night.

Manchester United went into the match on the back of an impressive run of form but struggled to control a tenacious Southampton.

The saints went into the game with guns blazing going ahead in the 12th minute through Stuart Armstrong but United hit back in the 20th minute through Marcus Rashford after Anthony Martial found him with his pass. Three minutes later Anthony Martial got in on the action scoring his 50th EPL goal for Manchester United to put the Red devils in front after he was place through on goal by Bruno Fernandes.

United had a lot of opportunities to finish the game but could not turn their chances to goals.

Michael Obafemi broke hearts when he found the inside of United’s net from close range to level the match in the 96th minute.

This result is a big blow for United as a win would have moved them to third place thereby claiming Champions league spot. But it wasn’t meant to be, sitting still in fifth place.

They would now have to pray Chelsea or Leicester take a slip and they too have to maintain good form too if they want to move into the top four spot.

They still have to play Leicester though on the final day. But still this is big two points thrown away.
