The police in Ogun State have arrested a 52-year-old man, Jimoh Mutaliu, for allegedly impregnating and procuring two abortions for his 16-year-old niece.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, September 21, following a report lodged at Adatan divisional headquarters by the victim’s father.
According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the father reported that he discovered that his 16 years old daughter had been impregnated, and on an enquiry, it was discovered that his own brother who is also an uncle to the girl is responsible for the pregnancy.
He reported further that, he also discovered that the man has been having carnal knowledge of the victim for quite some time now and that he has procured abortions for her two times.
The suspect, after he was arrested, confessed that he committed the crime, and affirmed that he had procured two abortions for her with the help of a nurse.
