Enugu Iyi Community Water Project, Ubulu- Uku, Delta State

Children and mothers wake up very early before sunrise and spend hours finding unclean water for drinking and cooking.

They share the same stream with cows and other livestock; the water they consume is dirty and unclean and as a result, they constantly suffer from stomach pain, typhoid and diarrhoea and lose children to water-related diseases!.

In 2017, I met Chibuzor Mirian Azubuike in the United States 🇺🇸, A Mandela Washington Fellow who has over the years, through her Foundation provided water to communities.

While going through messages on our Alumni platform, I read her post seeking for fellows to recommend a communities that lack water in South-South and South East. I quickly private chatted with her and rushed back to my village where I took pictures and videos of our stream and sent them to her.

Today, my community have a functional borehole.

The ability of an individual to access drinking water is a fundamental human right. IT’S A RIGHT 👉

The Government has a duty and responsibility to ensure its citizenry has access to reliable, safe, accessible, affordable, and clean drinking water. Sadly, such access to fresh drinking water is not a reality in some communities.

IF INDIVIDUALS, POLITICAL APPOINTEES CAN HAVE A FUNCTIONAL BOREHOLE in their Homes that gives them 24 hours of clean water, EACH COMMUNITY should have at least ONE and STOP buying and begging for water.
