In 100% of couple living in Benin city today, 90% of them are not legally married.

In 100% of children living in Benin today, 80% of them are born out of wedlock, inside the remaining 10% of children born in wedlock, 5% of them are not indigenous of Edo state.

On today post we have decided to speak of these topic, why single mother is on the rise in Benin City?

Benin city is the capital of Edo state, the inhabitants of the city is mostly Bini people. Bini people have there own cultures like other culture in Nigeria. There culture did not encourage fornication, which mean before any of there females child can get pregnant, she must be married out.

But today the reverse is the case, many of children we see today in Benin city are born out of wedlock.

In short many of girls now take it to be normal for them to have child without been married.

And many of the guys now, don’t even care to marry before having a child, and the most annoying part of these whole things is that, when these child is been born the father never care to take care of the baby, the responsibility of the baby will solely left in the hand of the mother and the family, in some case father family do assist. But the questions is this, why having children out of wedlock become rampant in the society?

Well some of our respondent said that, lack of home training is the causes, because now in Benin you will see an old woman taken care of the children without husband, when ask the woman will respond the father is in his house. That means the man never marry the woman in the first place, because if the man marry her and she is his wife the woman and the children must be living with him in his house, not him living separately and the woman leave separate.

Another respond from another person said, the rate of fornication is high that is why, he said but parents are to be blames because they don’t scolds there children.

I think these issue is something government of the state should intervene, to fine a solution to it.

Because these single mother children have lot of effect in the society, such as lack of value for human life. The rate of crime in the society is on the rise because of the increase of these single mother. The latest crime in Benin city now is Yahoo G PLUS where they stole female pant for rituals all these crime a rooted from single mother. So we advice the government to take urgent step to arrest the situation.
